2013 LANTERN PARADE A HUGE SUCCESS

This third time, we have may have been unlucky with the weather, but no spirits were dampened this year in our most spectacular Parade yet. Led by the dancers and drummers of the Bristol Samba Band, a longer than ever Parade made up of lanterns made by local schools and organisations over the last few months took to our Bedminster streets. Thousands of family onlookers lined the South Street, North Street, Cannon Street, East Street, British Road route, with many joining the end of the Parade, which was entertained by the ever popular Ambling Band. There were illuminated lanterns large and small, including a huge chicken and an animated footballer complete with a  ball lantern to kick! This year back at the Compass Point base, there was a great selection of hot food and drink to warm Paraders and watchers alike on their return plus fire juggling, south Bristol's Whooping Mad group with their illuminated hoops, and a short display by the Model Balloon Club of Great Britain. acta's Community Choir ended the evening with a rousing singalong before everyone went home to dry off and talk about what a magical evening they'd just witnessed. Once again thanks are due to all who made the event possible especially Caroline Reynolds for allowing us to host the event at Compass Point.  To see photos:  www.facebook.com/WOWBS3.
