Will Bedminster Shine This Year?

Last night we had what the Lantern Parade Committee called The Crunch Meeting, where we were to get together and decide if this year's Parade is viable based on our fundraising efforts so far.

We went to the meeting with everything crossed and Malcolm (Joint Chair and general superstar) told us that thanks to the hard work of fundraisers, the support of local businesses, generous help from the Bedminster Town Team and some support from Greater Bedminster Community Partnership, that it looks like we will hit our fundraising target this year.

What does this mean? 

It means that the 2014 Bedminster Winter Lantern Parade is on!

 

The parade will kick off in Bedminster at 4.30pm on Saturday 6th December, so make sure you have that date in your diary.

For the Facebook fans out there, we’ve set up a Bedminster Winter Lantern Parade event page, so pop on over, join and invite anybody you think would like to go.  It is completely open, so invite away!

As we get nearer to the event, more info such as the final route and other exciting stuff will be posted here, on the event page, the Bedminster Winter Lanterns Group page and we will be tweeting wildly from @bemmylanterns.  

 

Fundraising – we still need your help

We are getting there with the fundraising, but we’re not over the line yet.  So we still need your help to light up the streets of Bedminster.  “How?” I hear you say.  Easy!

  • Buy a raffle ticket.  Tickets are still available and the raffle is running until Sunday 28th September.

THE 2014 RAFFLE NOW LIVE!

To help us raise the important funds for this year’s Lantern Parade, we’ve teamed up with businesses in the heart of Bedminster to bring you a raffle with some fantastic prizes to be won!

Thanks to the generosity of Bedminster traders, we have a host of fabulous prizes, and the list is is growing daily!

TICKETS ON SALE NOW

 

The price of a ticket is £1.00 and all proceeds will go to the Bedminster Winter Lantern Parade, and there are four easy ways to get your hands on the tickets:

 

1) We will be selling tickets at the Lark in the Park in South Street Park on 9th August, as well as at other events in Bedminster over the next couple of months, so come and say hello!

2) Talk to a member of the Lantern team – they’ll have tickets available.

3) Send a cheque, made out to Bedminster Winter Lanterns, along with your name, address and contact number, to 15 Churchlands Road, Bristol BS3 3PW, and we will post you your tickets. If you want to get your tickets this way, make sure you do so before Saturday 13th September.

The draw will take place on Sunday 28th September at a celebratory event at Mezzaluna on West Street – details tbc, but put the date in the diary and join the fun!

FUNDRAISING AND ORGANISATION HAS STARTED!

CAN YOU HELP?

 

At a public meeting on Wednesday 12 February, several local people volunteered to work in the following groups:

- Fundraising

- Schools+community groups

- Health&Safety

- Route: dealing with police, traffic etc.

- Parade management

- Eating, drinking, stalls plus…

 

 

It was agreed that we need to raise £11000 by the end of July to enable the schools workshops to begin in the autumn term.  Plans are already underway for Boogie Nights at the Elephant House, Bring & Buy sales, bag-packing at Wilkinsons, and much more:  if you can help, contactThis email address is being protected from spambots.
